The original Back-Huggar: Standard style

Choosing the right Back-Huggar® can seem like a challenge when you discover the Bodyline lumbar support cushion comes in five different styles. Understanding the differences between the styles makes it easy to know which is best for you!

At the heart of every Back-Huggar is a high-grade polyurethane molded foam cushion that is very soft, yet firm enough to offer stabilizing lumbar support that maintains the body’s natural lumbar curve. This cushion literally “hugs” your lower back, easing tension and relieving back pain caused by spinal nerve compression, while also promoting correct posture and alignment.

The Back-Huggar cushion is very different from other back pillows made from memory foam that quickly collapse and conform to whatever shape is leaning against it. Memory foam cushions are simply too soft and pliable to provide proper lumbar support!

Since the Back-Huggar was designed by a chiropractor to offer optimal lumbar support both laterally and vertically, it makes sense that the front side of each cushion is exactly the same. The Back-Huggar style differences refer only to the shape of the cushion on the back side that rests against the vehicle or chair seat. Choosing the best Back-Huggar for you, then, comes down to knowing the types of seats you will use it in.

The original Back-Huggar, or what we call the Standard version, is flat on the back and designed to fit in straight back chairs, sofa seats, easy chairs and bench-type vehicle seats. The Standard style is our most popular style!

The Bucket Seat Thin version (the most popular Bucket Seat style!) features beveled sides on the back that enable the cushion to fit into curved-back chairs and bucket-seat vehicles with side bolsters.

The Bucket Seat Thick style is less beveled on the sides in back and also fits into curved-back chairs and bucket-seat vehicles with side bolsters. However, this version provides more support than the Bucket Seat Thin style.

The Secretary version uses the same molded foam cushion as the Standard style, however this version features four belt loops on the back of the cushion cover and comes with a provided strap that you can thread through the loops to attach the cushion to an open back chair.

The Extra Wide version is shaped exactly like the Standard style cushion, but it is 2.5 inches wider. This style is suggested for those with a wider lumbar region.

Each Back-Huggar comes encased in a hand-sewn, washable velour cloth cover, available in several colors. The covers all feature belt straps on the back. Optional elastic straps that secure the Back-Huggar to almost any chair or seat are available for purchase.
